Fucillo sets new school mark in javelin
Jenny Fucillo will be remembered for many of her exploits on the track when she unties the laces on her cleats for the final time as a Winthrop High Lady Viking a few weeks hence.
But she added yet another mention of her name in the WHS record books when she set a school record in the javelin with a toss of 69 feet in Monday’s meet with Saugus.
The record spear throw came on the heels of yet another double victory by the senior hurdler supreme, as she captured the 400 intermediate hurdles in a time of 67 seconds and the100 high hurdles in 16.7 seconds.
A number of her Lady Viking teammates also turned in excellent performances in the meet that saw Saugus edge Winthrop by the closest of margins, 69-68.
