Phase One is Underway: Belle Isle Bridge Reconstruction Finally has Begun

No one has to tell the commuters who use the Belle Isle Bridge to travel in and out of town that the demolition phase of the bridge reconstruction project has begun. There had been a slight delay with the FAA’s objection over the height of the crane so close to Logan Airport, but all of the issues have been resolved and the construction phase of a brand new bridge soon will begin.

The state Department of Transportation’s liaison to the community, Winthrop resident John Vitagliano, has done his best to keep the town informed regularly about the bridge replacement project and we look forward to regular updates from John. If all goes well, there will be a beautiful, new and, more importantly, safe bridge for Winthrop residents to use for years to come.
