Forum Was a Success: Event Was, as Usual, Highly Informative

All we can say is congratulations to Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, his staff, including event coordinator Barbara Bishop, and the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center for sponsoring such an outstanding women’s health forum Tuesday night at the Cummings School. The event drew one of the largest turnouts in recent years and it was great to see our female residents taking advantage of all the health information and booths by the participating businesses and organizations. It’s clear that Speaker DeLeo and Mrs. Bishop put a lot of time and energy into organizing and executing this important event that so many residents look forward to every year. The appearance of Channel 5 news anchor Bianca de la Garza was certainly greeted warmly by all in attendance. Ms. de la Garza spoke about her experiences of being a mother and working full-time and trying to create a healthy balance between the two jobs. She spoke of how important it is to eat healthy foods with her busy lifestyle and unusual work schedule. (She wakes up 2:15 a.m. to get ready for her anchoring role of the Channel 5 Eye Opener show.) Ms. de la Garza also delighted the crowd with stories of her coverage of international events such as the royal wedding in April of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Whoever asked de la Garza to be the guest speaker certainly deserves plaudits because she truly captured the excitement and energy of the forum.

WCAT was there to cover the event for television and we’re sure you’ll enjoy the broadcast.
