Maggio Will Be Missed: She Has Always Been a Calming Influence

We will miss Councilor Jeanne Maggio’s steady voice and her ability to bring people on both sides of an issue together when she steps down from her seat on the Council in January.

A case in point came Tuesday night when some residents criticized the current Short Beach project. Maggio listened to the discussion and then summarized what we’re sure the majority of the residents in the town were thinking: Let the engineers and workers complete the project as planned (and she’s right that the new seawall looks so much better than it did) and then talk about what can be done to improve or enhance public safety in that area.

Even as her successor on the Council, Craig Mael (who no doubt also is going to be an asset to the Council), talked about perhaps tweaking the project a little,  Maggio was firm in her belief that the project should go forward as put together by the experts and then opinions can be drawn.
