Casino Meeting Tuesday: All Residents Invited to Q&A Session

Town Council President Peter Gill is closely monitoring all things related to the proposed casino at Suffolk Downs. He intends to name a casino committee of councilors as early as the next Council meeting. He was a guest at the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce meeting at which time Suffolk CEO Chip Tuttle laid out the traffic plans for the proposed casino/entertainment complex.

And now Gill has announced that there will be a public meeting for all Winthrop residents Tuesday, June 26 at the Winthrop Middle School Auditorium to listen to Chip Tuttle and ask questions about the $1 billion project being planned for Suffolk Downs.

Not a day goes by that some aspect of the casino is not front page news. It’s one of the biggest stories in years and Council President Peter Gill, his Council colleagues, Town Manager James McKenna, and of course, our Beacon Hill delegation, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo and Sen. Anthony Petruccelli, are clearly out in front and monitoring the progress of the casino process.

Tuesday evening will be a nice opportunity for every resident to hear first-hand about the plans for the casino and its anticipated impact on Winthrop, as well as to ask any questions about this project which promises to be the biggest thing to happen to this area in generations.
