Winthrop voters matched the state electorate by giving Congressman Edward J. Markey a decisive victory in Tuesday’s U.S. Senate special election. Markey received 1,868 votes for 56 percent of all balloting in the town. Gabriel Gomez received 1,459 votes for 44 percent. Markey received 642,988 votes statewide for 55 percent.
