Kenneth Dascher

Retired Philadelphia Police Office; Member of Winthrop Amvets and Winthrop Elks

Kenneth W. Dascher of Winthrop passed away at home on February 16. He was 71 years old.

Kenneth was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a police officer for the City of Philadelphia. He was a member of the Revere 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member of the Amvets Post #48 of Winthrop and the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078.

The beloved husband of Arlene M. DeRosa Dascher, he was born in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Simon) Dascher. He was the devoted father of Kenneth W. Dascher and Jamie Gaffney of Florida, Christopher W. Dascher of Philadelphia, PA, Katharine A. Dascher Walker and her husband, Stephen Walker of Malden, Jennifer L. Heller and her husband, Joseph of Havertown, PA, George R. Ultrino and his wife, Diane of Methuen, and Kris A. Ultrino of Woburn and a daughter-in-law, Caroline Dascher of Maryland. He is also survived by his loving and cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was the dear brother of Dr. John J. “Jack” Dascher of Pennsylvania and Alice H. Clark and her husband, Bill of New Jersey.

Visiting hours will be held at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop, today, Thursday, February 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Cremation to follow will be private. George Freedland

Of Winthrop

George Freedland of Winthrop entered into rest surrounded by his loving family on February 12. He was 87 years old.

The beloved husband of Marilyn A. (Shore) Freedland with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, he was born in Boston, the son of the late Shepherd and Rose (Maltzman) Freedland. He attended Winthrop Public Schools and was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1944 and from Bentley University in 1952 with a degree in accounting. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II aboard the USS Idaho and the USS Princeton.

He leaves two children: Sheryl Weinstein and her husband, Dr. Steven of Sudbury and Dr. Eric Freedland and his wife, Susan of Marblehead. He was the cherished grandfather of Samantha, Matthew, Joshua and Emily; loving brother to Estelle Moskowitz of Oregon and the late A. David Freedland, Sumner Freedland and Charlotte Green.

Services were held at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem. Interment followed at Tifereth Israel of Winthrop Cemetery, Everett. Memorial Observance was at the home of Dr. Eric and Susan Freedland. Jane Cristiano

Of Winthrop, formerly of Saugus

Jane Cristiano of Winthrop, formerly of Saugus, passed away suddenly on February 9 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 98 years old.

Born in Wakefield, the beloved daughter of the late Rose (Raffael) and Carl Bonito, she was a lifetime resident of Saugus and worked for many years as a cafeteria worker in the Saugus Public Schools. She also worked for Russo’s Candies and Jordan Marsh and was a member of the Saugus Senior Center.

She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Cristiano and the loving mother of Robert Cristiano, Jr. of Andover, Janice Pomeroy and June Cristiano-Preble, both of Winthrop; the cherished grandmother of Mark, Michelle, Christopher, David and Shawn and is also survived by four great grandchildren and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Michael Ranaudo

Account Manager

Michael J. Ranaudo of Winthrop, formerly of Revere, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 13. He was 47 years old.

He attended Revere schools, graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, RI and worked for SecurAmerica LLC as an Account Manager in Boston.

He was born in Revere on June 28, 1966 at Revere Memorial Hospital to the late Frank A. and Laura R. (Stillitano) Ranaudo of Revere and the grandson of the late Antonio and Anna (Lombardo) Ranaudo of Revere and the late Joseph and Mary (Chaves) Stillitano of Brockton.

He is survived by his brother, Frank A. Ranaudo and his wife, Becky of Florence, AL and his sisters, Cathryn “Cathy” Vigoda and her husband, Barry of North Fort Myers, FL, Ann Baillie and her husband, the late Ronald of Winthrop and Patricia “Tricia” Thomas and her husband, Brian of Sandown, NH. He was the devoted uncle of Albert G. Rizzo, III of Salem, Donna Lavigne of Sandown, NH, Cheryl Ranaudo of South Boston, Christopher Ranaudo of Anahmeim Hills, CA, Erin Baillie of Winthrop and Tanner Thomas and Drake Xin Zhuang Thomas of Sandown, NH; great uncle of Hanna Lavigne of Sandown, NH, Ryley Millett of South Boston and Justin Rizzo and Colin Rizzo of Lynn. He is also survived by his former wife and very good friend, Maria Simard of East Boston.
