Who Let the Lady Bulldogs Out?

The Lady Bulldogs hockey team scored an impressive (2-0) shutout of archrival Marblehead at Salem State University last Wednesday to improve to 2-1.

The sparkling play of junior Gretchen Howard in the Bulldog net was the key to a big victory. The Bulldogs got a big lift from ex-Lady Bulldog all-star Caroline McKinnon. Caroline was a 100-point scorer! Now a member of the Salem State Lady Vikings hockey team, Caroline visited the team before the game.

The Lady Bulldogs have two non-league games with Shrewsbury at Larsen Rink and on Monday Jan. 4, at Belmont, before the league season becomes highly competitive.

The next to games with Peabody at Larsen Rink (Wednesday, Jan. 6th and Saturday with the high scoring Beverly girls at the new ice rink at Endicott College at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9th Beverly-Danvers scored 11 goals in a big w in over Medford.

The Vikings have to big games to kickoff the 2016 season on t he schedule. The Saugus Sachems invade Larsen Rink on Saturday night (Jan. 2nd) at 6:30 and the top ranked team in the NEC, Beverly and the Vikings will face off next Wednesday night at Endicott College at 6:30.

Beverly and Danvers are two very strong NEC teams, so the road ahead for a very young Viking sextet becomes a big challenge as we start the 2016 campaign.

Vikings hockey team captured the Kasabuski Holiday Tournament, defeating North Reading (3-2) in a shootout.

Frosh Sam Yarrow scored the winning goal.
