Jerome (Jerry) Falbo

Of California, formerly of Winthrop

Jerome (Jerry) Falbo of Huntington Beach, California, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on June 28.

Jerry was a graduate of Winthrop High School where he participated in football, hockey and soccer. He loved all sports and continued playing throughout his life. Jerry was described by friends as a kind person who “wouldn’t hurt a fly.” He was treasurer of the Spring Valley Middle School PTO in Huntington Beach, CA. where he was described by fellow PTO members and teachers as a warm, kind and helpful person, whether assisting at a school function or helping a teacher with a computer problem.

Jerry obtained an A.S. degree in software service and was an IT consultant for the law firm Shook, Hardy and Beacon (Irvine, CA) and Williams Lea. He will be deeply missed by all family, friends and co-workers who loved him.

He was the cherished father of Nicole Falbo and Samantha Falbo of Huntington Beach, CA; beloved son of Jerome and Ann Falbo of Winthrop; beloved brother of Francine (Falbo) Carroll of Stoneham, brother-in-law of Mitch Carroll and devoted uncle of Mitchell and Grace Carroll of Stoneham. He is also survived by his former wife, Kelle Falbo of Huntington Beach, CA, step son Kyle VanDerHyde and step daughter, Carly VanDerHyde, also of Huntington Beach, CA and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral was conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home on July 11 followed by a Funeral Mass in the Holy Rosary Church, Point Shirley, Winthrop. Interment was private. Natalie Clayman

Of Florida, formerly of Winthrop

Natalie (Shulman) Clayman died recently. She was born March 29, 1936 in Revere, a daughter of the late Jacob and Ida (Lebovitz) Shulman.  Natalie was raised and educated in Revere and lived over 40 years in Winthrop prior to relocating to S. Palm Beach, Florida where she resided for 16 years.

Natalie was a homemaker who had also worked for many years as a medical secretary.  She was an avid mahjong player and enjoyed gardening.  She also was a master of couponing and loved to shop. Natalie also was the moral compass for the Mayor of South Palm Beach, FL (her husband).

 She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald W. Clayman, one son, Bryan Clayman and his wife, Debbie McDonald, two daughters, Alycia Avery and her partner, Jeffrey Ouellette and Cynthia McKeon and her husband, Tony, five grandchildren: Bradly, Jayme, Alexa, Dylan and Zachary; one sister, Rita Kessel and her husband, Bob, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Richard Ivaldi, Jr.

Of Marblehead, formerly of Winthrop

Richard B. Ivaldi, Jr. of Marblehead, a former longtime resident of Winthrop, passed away suddenly at home on June 28. He was 45 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of Suzanne Pires and the late Richard B. Ivaldi, Sr., he worked as a laborer in construction for many years.

He was the dear brother of Elena Crowley and her husband, Stephen of Weymouth, Nicole Ivaldi of East Boston, Vanessa Recca of Marblehead, John Recca of Winthrop and the late Michael Ivaldi, the cherished grandson of Sara and the late Charles Ivaldi and is a also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment followed the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Ralph Maw, Jr.

Of Saugus, former longtime Winthrop resident

Ralph E. Maw, Jr. of Saugus. formerly of Winthrop. passed away at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford on July 2. He was 71 years old. Born in Winthrop, the beloved son of the late Mary E. (Mulloy) and Ralph E. Maw, Sr., he was a longtime resident of Winthrop and a graduate of Winthrop High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his service he was a sentry dog handler reaching the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as a technician for Verizon.

He was the devoted husband of the late Ann (White) and the loving father of the late Paul Mello and his wife, Sharon of Windham, New Hampshire;  the dear brother of Wayne Maw of Guilford, Connecticut, the beloved uncle of Wayne and Kurt Maw and the cherished grandfather of David and Andrew.

The funeral service was conducted in the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6. Interment with military honors followed the service in Winthrop Cemetery.

Nicholas Del Greco

Retired Master Electrician

Nicholas J. Del Greco of Upland Road, Winthrop passed away at the Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield on July 2. He was 87 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Mary (Ferullo) and John Del Greco, he was a resident of East Boston for many years and moved to Winthrop over 39 years ago. For many years he worked as a Master Electrician running his own company.

He was the devoted husband of the late Louise M. (Mangan) and the loving father of Joan Terry of Loudon, New Hampshire, Shelly Goulet and her husband, Greg of Boxford, Kathy Del Greco of Winthrop and John Del Greco and his wife, Karen of Melrose and the cherished grandfather of Carolyn, Julie, Alex, Miles and Griffin.

The funeral service was held in the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6. Interment followed the service in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.

Lois Hewson

1948-2015

Lois Hewson of Lewiston, Maine, formerly of New Jersey and Massachusetts, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Auburn, Maine.

She was born October 1, 1948 in Everton, NJ to Anna and Walter Gavel. She graduated from Lewiston High School, and earned her degree at Central Connecticut State University.

Lois was married in January 1985 to Bruce Hewson. She worked many years as an insurance claims professional, and was a parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Winthrop and at St. Michael’s Church in Auburn.

Lois loved sailing on the ocean and traveling.

She is survived by her longtime friend, William Donovan Jr. of Massachusetts, her mother Anna Gavel; and several close friends. Lois was predeceased by her husband and father.
