Congratulations, Jack Wallace

We wish to congratulate Winthrop High School senior Jack Wallace on winning this past fall’s Northeastern Conference Open, the first Winthrop player in school history to accomplish that feat. Jack’s finish atop a field that included golfers from the 11 communities that comprise the NEC, including Saugus, Marblehead,  Swampscott, Lynn, Beverly, Danvers, and Gloucester (all of which have golf courses and driving ranges), represents quite an achievement.

The victory also signals what a multi-talented athlete Jack Wallace is. Jack has made a commitment to Franklin Pierce College to continue his career as a baseball player. With a fastball touching 90 miles per hour,  Jack will be one of the top pitchers in the NEC this spring.

Jack’s victory also reflects positively on head coach Peter Lyons, who has helped so many players improve their golf games while inspiring the student-athletes with positive messages about sportsmanship and competition.

We know Jack won’t be eligible for induction into the Winthrop High Hall of Fame until 2026, but his NEC Open championship alone would be meritorious of selection.

Congratulations, Jack, and continued success in your athletic career in Winthrop and at Franklin Pierce next year.
