The Town Council has approved a transfer of funds to solicit the services of a recruitment center for the selection of a permanent town manager.

The council voted to appropriate $24,500 from the Town Council reserve budget for the search.

Councilor Rich Boyajian said he would like bids from three executive search companies.

ā€œIā€™d like to see all three firms have a presentation to the council,ā€ Boyajian said.

Former Town Manager James McKenna decided to step down after nine years in the position on Aug. 31. He plans to pursue a position in education. For the final year of his contract, he will serve as a consultant to the town.

Last week, the town council appointed Police Chief Terence Delehanty to serve as the interim town manager for 90 days. Delehanty is filling both roles.

According to the town charter, the council president will be the one to nominate the next town manager.
