Ring in the season Friday, Nov. 24 in Winthrop Center for the Chamber of Commerce’s 26th annual Holiday Lighting Festival from 3-6 p.m. The Holiday Lighting Festival is also the kickoff of Winthrop Small Business Weekend. Spend Local. Eat Local. Shop Local. Enjoy Local.
The afternoon of the Holiday Lighting Festival will feature live entertainment all afternoon. From 3-6 p.m. making special guest appearances will be Bumble from Happy Kids Entertainment. Also, visiting the center will be Rudolph, Frosty, Dalli, The Dalmatian, and Teddie, The Bear. Thank you to Balloon City for donating the use of the costumes. For Kids Only will be offering free crafts for kids at their site in the center. Take a free photo with Santa Claus from 3 – 4:45 p.m., courtesy of Webster First Federal Credit Union. Enjoy performances by Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy, Jessica Gordon Academy of Performing Arts, Winthrop Jazz Boys, the Winthrop School of Performing Arts, and Lori Wadkins and Students. Lots of tasty treats will be available from the local shops. We have a raffle by Highland Real Estate of some great Legos. The highlight of the day is when Santa Claus arrives on the fire engine. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be leading the procession, from the center fire station to French Square for the tree lighting. The tree lighting is at 5:30 p/m. Many businesses and organizations will be offering raffles and give-a-ways. There is something for everyone as our entertainers delight the crowd to kick off the season.
