EBSB Named as One of Top Places to Work

At the 2017 “Top Places to Work” reveal reception held at the Boston Design Center and hosted by The Boston Globe, East Boston Savings Bank was named one of Massachusetts’ 2017 “Top Places to Work”.

The recognition as a “Top Places to Work” is based on surveys completed by more than 75,000 workers at 334 companies around the state and administered by the employee engagement company Energage (formerly called WorkplaceDynamics) of Exton, Pa.. The survey asks employees about management, training, direction, job satisfaction, and more; the more positive the response, the higher the company ranks. EBSB ranked 34th on the list of large employers that participated in the survey.

“Eighty-two percent of EBSB employees responded to the survey, which is phenomenal, says Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Gavegnano. It was that survey that earned us a Top Places to Work designation and that has given us ideas on how to be even better.

When asked “What do you attribute to the bank’s growth to $5 billion in assets?” Without hesitation Gavegnano says ”Our people. The hard work of our people. In my experience, top workplaces are where people work together well, understanding that what they do is worthwhile. At EBSB we provide valued banking services through our retail branch network; services that individuals and families need.  And with our robust lending and corporate banking business lines we are an economic engine for Boston’s neighborhoods and greater Boston itself.  Service to our external customers is matched by service to each other, as our efforts are supported by operational and administrative departments. I’m proud of our employees and what we accomplish together.”

The 10th annual Top Places to Work survey honors employers who care for their most valuable resource: the people who work for them. The survey, published online at https://www.bostonglobe.com/section/2017-top-places-to-work, measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. Those businesses earning a spot in the Top Places to Work share several key traits, including offering progressive benefits and creative perks, allowing the flexibility needed to have good lives both at work and at home, embracing the diverse backgrounds of their employees, and offering a promising future to all of their workers.

Founded in 1848, EBSB is a proven community bank that offers products and services that meet the deposit and financing needs of both consumers and businesses. East Boston Savings Bank currently operates 32 full-service branches and operates a Mobile Banking Unit in the greater Boston metropolitan area and offers a variety of deposit and loan products to individuals and businesses located in its primary market, which consists of Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Suffolk counties.
