Dr Anthony Costonis, Trustee of the Sylvia Costonis Charitable Trust announces the formation of a “give back program†to the Town of Winthrop. This program funds grants that the Costonis family donates through its partnership with Winthrop Charities to honor the extraordinary guidance provided by Mrs. Sylvia Costonis, a single mother of eight children, and to show appreciation to the Town for the support it offered to her and the family as it made its way to adulthood.
The $500 contribution to the Winthrop Elks helps to fund the construction of a members’ plaque to honor deceased members of the Winthrop Elks; members who delivered Thanksgiving baskets to several needy families for many years during the holiday season. Other organizations in the Town which have received gifts from The Sylvia Costonis Charitable Trust include the Student Special Needs Program of the Winthrop High School, the Casa Foundation, St. John’s Episcopal Winthrop Food Pantry, the Hope for Warriors, and Richard Honan’s America Legion Post 146 initiative that provides support services for Winthrop’s military service members. In these and in other anticipated efforts, the Costonis family looks to continue to contribute to the great support network that helps makes the Town of Winthrop a great place to live in.
