Thelma ‘Tibe’ Kaminsky

Active at Winthrop Senior Center, enjoyed her role as ‘family yente’

Thelma “Tibe” Kaminsky of Winthrop died on Saturday, June 23. She was 86 years old.

“Tibe,” as she was called by those who loved her, worked for many years as an administrator for Old Mr. Boston and Bank of Boston. She was easily befriended and once you became her friend, you were friends for life such as Phyllis, Eileen, and Ellen. She enjoyed her yearly trips to Florida, being a beach goddess, ‘playing the number,’ the Senior Center Activities including her many bingo games which enriched her life, and the role of the family Yente.

The loving daughter of the late Victor and Ann Kaminsky, she is survived by many loving cousins and was a treasured godmother to several cousins. She was the special cousin of Myrna Sadowsky of Florida, the late Marion and Barnett Goldberg of Winthrop, Allen Goldberg and his late wife, Michele, Steven Goldberg, Seth (Allison) Goldberg, Alyssa (James) Bradford, Janna (Stephen) Rowe, Anat Goldberg, Meital Goldberg, Andrew Feit, and Susan Feit.

Services were held graveside at Kopaigorod Cemetery, 776 Baker St, West Roxbury on Tuesday. Memorial Observance was at the home of Seth and Allison Goldberg following interment. John Cronin

Boston Herald retiree

John R. Cronin of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully in Waltham on June 23.

A US Air Force veteran, he was a 35 year employee of the Boston Herald and a member of the Special Library Association.

The beloved husband of the late Carol Ann (Luti) Cronin, he was the devoted father of Christopher of Brighton, Daniel and his wife, Sarah of Franklin, Justin and his wife, Renee of Londonerry, NH and the late David M. Cronin; dear brother of the late Dorothy Cronin and cherished  grandfather of Abby, Jack, Liam, Rhys and Colin. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., (Orient Heights) East Boston. John was laid to rest with his loving wife and son in Winthrop Cemetery (Cross Street.) Eileen Robidoue

Suffolk Downs retiree, received the 2012 Lifetime Achiement Award by the New England Turf Writers Association

Eileen (Watt) Robidoue of Revere, formerly of Rumford, Rhode Island, died on June 20.

Eileen graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Pawtucket RI. She was a Horseman’s Bookkeeper at Narragansett Park, Pawtucket RI, Rockingham Park Salem NH, and retired from Suffolk Downs, East Boston after 50 years of service. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from New England Turf Writer’s Association in 2012.

She was the devoted mother of the late Samuel F. Robidoue and sister of the late Robert A. Watt, beloved cousin of the late John A. Keenan and beloved late friend of Mary Brett (McSheffrey). She is survived by cousins Robert Keenan, Mary Jane Sinnott (Keenan) and Ann Kosvanec (Watt), her beloved sister in law Virginia Holt (Robidoue) and by many beloved friends in Winthrop, Revere and the New England horse racing family.
