Helen Chiulli

Metropolitan Credit Union retiree

Helen M. Chiulli of Walden St., Winthrop passed away at the Winthrop Place on July 16. She was 81 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved daughter of the late Angelina (Puopolo) and Joseph Flammia, she was a resident of East Boston for several years and has been a resident of Winthrop for over 61 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a customer service representative for Metropolitan Credit Union.

She was the devoted wife of the late Luciano “Lou” Chiulli and the loving mother of Louis Chiulli and his wife, Susan of Nashua, N.H., Christine Cavaliere-Ogus and her husband, Gerald of Winthrop and Joann Wright and her husband, Kenneth of Agawam; dear sister of Joseph Flammia of Winthrop, Mary King of East Boston and the late Frances Candeliere, Michael, Carmine, Anthony, Philip and Lawrence Flammia; cherished grandmother of Frank and his wife, Jenny, Nick and his wife, Kirstin, Justin and Lauren and great-grandmother of Parker.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, July 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow the mass will be in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Gerald Sesnovich

Of Winthrop

Gerald S. Sesnovich of Winthrop entered into rest on July 13 at the age of 82.

He was the beloved husband   of   Elaine   (Seronick)   Sesnovich and devoted   father   of   Bruce   Sesnovich   of Watertown and Debra and Vincent Carroll of Winthrop and the dear son of the late Meyer and Rose (Tanenbaum) Sesnovich.

Funeral arrangements were by Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, Brookline. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Park. Arthur David Shuman

Lifelong Eagle Scout and avid Trekkie of California, formerly of Winthrop

Arthur David Shuman, 73, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Winthrop, died at his residence on July 9.

Born, raised and educated in Winthrop and a graduate of Winthrop High School, he was the son of the late James and Sari (Groman) Shuman. Arthur graduated from Northeastern University and was president and former CEO of Citizens Tax Service. He was a lifelong Eagle Scout and an avid Trekkie.

Arthur is survived by his brother: Herbert Shuman and his wife, Charlotte of Florida and Charles Shuman of California., his niece Jacki Eisenberg and her husband, David, nephew Marc Shuman and great-niece and nephew, Sarah and Jacob.

Graveside services were held at Congregation Beth Israel of Malden Cemetery in North Reading. Charles Kaliris

Retired WBZ Channel 4 news photographer

 

Charles R. Kaliris, formerly of Revere and a longtime resident of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on July 12 at the age of 84.

Charlie, a Korean War Veteran who served in the U.S. Army, graduated in 1959 from Boston University.  Working for almost 40 years as a news photographer at WBZ-Channel 4 Boston, Charlie enjoyed sharing memories of his career with his children and grandchildren.

Charlie was a lover of the ocean and an avid sailor.  He was a lifetime member of the Winthrop Yacht Club where he served on the Board of Directors for over 30 years.   He was also a ham radio operator.

Charlie was known for his strength, quick wit, warmth and unwavering dedication and love for his family.  He could always be found in the stands of his grandchildren’s games, cheering them on.

Born in Boston, the son of the late Charles and Loretta (Cassidy) Kaliris, he will be remembered as the dedicated and loving husband of Mary L. (Dillon) Kaliris with whom he shared 59 years of marriage; devoted and treasured father of the late Charles (Chuck) Kaliris and his wife, Karen of North Reading, William Kaliris and his wife, Denise of Melrose and Christine Kaliris and Eric Danilchuk of Winthrop; cherished grandfather of Diane, Mark, William, Dillon and Matia Kaliris.  He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral arrangements were by Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
